Rich Chocolatey Brownies with a caffeine kick!

Tonight I made triple chocolate  espresso brownies that has an international flair. I found the recipe at  tastebook.com by Lisa Sera of Cooks Illustrated. So I put my own spin on it, for the bittersweet chocolate I used Valrhona 70% from France, A wonderful Italian chocolate called Gran Cacao 100% by Slitti Chocolato Artigianale for the unsweetened chocolate and I had to use a bit of  El Rey’s Gran Saman 70%  from Venezuela because I didnt have enough Slitti left and our favorite Cocoa powder the Italian Cacao Di Pernigotti. I also used a little Muscovado sugar and added toasted walnuts. I think it came out delightful, extremely chocolaty with a hint of espresso. I love the crunch that the walnuts provide with the fudgy texture of the brownie. I think this recipe is a keeper!

The chocolate tastes different than I’m used to….at first, I didn’t think I liked it. After another taste, I determined that I love it! It could be that I’m not used to the different chocolates…The combination of the different chocolates really works well.

The only thing that I would suggest to make it better is – to drop off another piece to me!

  4. Definitely a keeper, Anderson. Brownies are always either too cakey or too fudgey. (What I really hate is when they’re gooey.) Yours had a nice cake/fudge quality without being too sugary.

  5. Love, Love, Love this brownie!!! It was just heaven in my mouth….sweet, nutty, chocolatey & then the little surprise kick of espresso. PERFECT!

Love your photos too! You & Andy definitely know how to make food look so sensuous!!! : )
